About
The Interactive Media Design Award recognises outstanding young talents in the field of Interactive Media Design in Switzerland. The IMDAward's mission is to honour exceptional educational projects in a transparent and sustainable way.
Regulations
The IMDAward is open to all students at Swiss design schools who are currently training to become Interactive Media Designers EFZ. All students are eligible to participate, regardless of their year of study. Interactive Media Designers can participate for up to one year after completing their training (starting their apprenticeship in 2021 and completing it before August 1, 2025).
Students from the field of Interactive Media Design only, are eligible.
The online jury consists of carefully selected experts within a category. A jury member can judge in several categories. Teachers working in the field of interactive media design (basic level education) cannot be part of the jury. In addition, former IMDAward gold winners can join the curated jury.
The jury defines design as the result of a development process that utilizes the potential along the entire value chain and thus generates significant added value.
All products, projects, research work, services and theses that have been created at school, in a teaching environment or in leisure time and convincingly present innovative solutions through a design-oriented development and design process are eligible.
The binding evaluation criteria for all categories include:
– Innovation content
– Added value, benefit and impact
– Quality of execution
– Quality of design
These criteria form the basis for a comprehensive evaluation of the submitted works, supplemented by subject-specific criteria for the respective categories.
The winners (gold, silver, bronze) will be announced during the Opening Event of the Interactive Media Design Days on March 11, 2026 in St.Gallen and subsequently published online on March 12, 2026 (with no legal recourse).
All award winners (Gold, Silver, Bronze) receive a cash prize and a trophy.
Projects are accepted in the following categories:
– App
– Website
– Animation
– Video
– Storytelling
– Type on Screen
All products, projects, research work, services and theses that have been created at school, in a teaching environment or in leisure time and convincingly present innovative solutions through a design-oriented development and design process are eligible.
The Jury
The online jury consists of three experts, each of whom has been carefully selected for their knowledge of a particular category. Jury members can judge multiple categories. Teachers at the Swiss Schools of Design are not eligible to serve on the jury.
